 | Jeffrey Robbins Kane
Raised on a farm in Virginia, Jeffrey Robbins Kane embraced life to the fullest. Colors and shapes filled his mind and heart. His work reflects the beauty of life -- always changing, learning and growing.
To discover that Kane was a self-taught artist may surprise some, but the real impact is in his work. His strong sense of color and memorable style continue to inspire all those willing to follow his simple credo: "Smile, Enjoy Life, and Buy Art".
After attending the University of Virginia, Kane's love for adventure led him to New York City, where he developed a strong determination to pursue an artistic life. Next came the West Coast for a few years; and then, a chance opportunity brought Kane to England. Although rich in history, art and culture, London lacked the warm weather Kane's spirit and work-a-day life demanded. He soon returned to Los Angeles, pastels in hand.
Hollywood was the first to take notice of this rising young influence in the art world. Early on, actress Sharon Stone debuted a piece of Kane's work at a dinner party she was having for a close friend. The "friend" turned out to be Al Pacino. The work Kane crafted measured 7' x 6' and was presented in a magnificent, gilded frame. It was the talk of the party -- and so was the artist.
Following that fortunate introduction, Kane soon found himself featured in Buzz Magazine and never looked back. His exhibition at The Los Angeles County Museum's New Artist series made history when Kane became the first artist ever to sell out at that particular venue. It was one of many exciting moments in Kane's career.
Today, his work can be found in the homes of many movie executives, well-known actors, sports stars, producers and directors. One of his most celebrated pieces is "Red Roses" - originally a commissioned piece to honor the success of the Academy Award- winning film "American Beauty" and its producer, Allan Ball. On an international level, it is interesting to note none other than the Crown Prince of Jordan claims ownership to another Kane original.
Southern California was Kane's home for the past twenty years. He once said: "My work has flourished here and I credit my patrons, and my friends, who have given me so much support, trust and confidence in what I can bring to you ... my audience."
